Men Worry About Love Handles As Much As Women Do

Love handles are the fat bulges on the side of the waist.  Both sexes - male and female - are self conscious about having them displayed.  As we well know, the only way to get rid of these bulges is through exercising and eating the right foods.  Love handles are also referred to as muffin top, spare tire, belt overhang, and central obesity.

Studies show that the growth of fat around the middle section (waist) can be due to stress.  This situation of having to carry a spare tire around the waist can be dangerous to your health in that it can cause heart problems, hypertension, and diabetes.  Constantly living with chronic stress can cause hormonal changes and changes in the brain.  This happens to men who suffer form abdominal obesity.  A program to lower stress can be of help to anyone who is making an effort to lose weight but especially to those who have central obesity.

The term “love handles” was used first around the end of the 1960s.  It happened to make reference to the fat that is accumulated around the waist area.  Media is being targeted as the vessel which is nowadays is responsible for men’s attitudes toward achieving a perfect body.  It’s not all together genetics which causes the body to accumulate excess weight around the abdominal section.  It’s also due to a slowing metabolism as we get older.  When the metabolism slows down, more food tends to begin storing in the middle section and the tummy.

I’m sure that men would love to know how to get rid of their love handles.  Lower the fat content of  the food that you intake.  If you are trying to lose weight beer is also one of your worst enemies.  Try a lot of foods which are rich in fiber.  Low fat milks, white meats – but not on a deli sandwich – and fruits are good to eat.  Let exercise begin burning the stored fat that has accumulated around the waist because of a slow metabolism which has been brought on by age.  It will produce more energy.  Some suggestions for exercise are bench presses and sit ups.
